Response from the competent agency on 25/05/2018
Catheters and medical consumables such as syringes, needles, cannulae and the like classifiable under tariff heading 9018 do not require clearance from Ministry of Health. However, clearance from Pharmacy Board, Ministry of Health is required for pharmaceutical products falling under Chapter 30 as well as, only in cases, where perfumes, soaps and cosmetics are suspected to be meant for medicinal uses and/or which may contain any harmful or unauthorized substances/ingredients, such as face whitening creams containing mercury.
